“We lost a member of the storm chase family this morning when Travis Cruz passed away. His business,
@stormcruzzer, sponsored the 2018 and 2019 Mid-Atlantic ChaserCon events. All of us will miss him.”
In addition to being raised in the Tidewater region, Travis Cruz was born in Poquoson. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Virginia Tech, and he launched the company StormCruzzer.
He has always been interested in weather and the processes that influence it. Still, after watching Hurricane Isabel’s power from the front row in 2003, he developed a genuine fascination with it.
Since then, he has dedicated his life to researching and documenting instances of extreme weather. He developed the concept for the StromCruzzer, a storm-chaser vehicle.
The primary goal is to minimise danger in storm research and documentation. His interests outside of meteorology include off-roading, researching, and any activity with a certain amount of risk.
